Decent, but some hiccups

Finally decided to give Papaya Global a try for our small business payroll. The initial setup was fairly straightforward, the dashboard is clean and easy to navigate which was a big plus. Ordering the service plan was fine, no issues there. Where I ran into a bit of a wall was with some specific local tax configurations – it wasn't as intuitive as I hoped. Had to contact support a couple of times. They did get back to me, but the response time wasn't exactly 'global speed,' more like a day or so each time. The quality of the core payroll processing seems solid once everything is set up, but getting there took more effort than I anticipated. It's a workable solution, just not completely seamless for us.

Payroll setup was easy

Needed a new payroll system for my small business. Papaya Global came up in my search. The setup process was actually pretty straightforward. I wasn't expecting it to be so quick to get everything running. Had one question about tax forms, and support got back to me the same day. Happy with the service so far.

Thinking of moving our contractor management to Papaya Global. Anyone have experience with their Contractor Onboarding services?

A AishaR 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
We've been using it for about 6 months now for our global contractors. The onboarding process is pretty smooth, especially for document collection and tax forms. Much better than our old manual system.

P PankajS 2 weeks ago
Yeah, the compliance part is what worries me the most.

How long does it typically take for a new contractor to be fully set up?
8
T techfreak 2 weeks ago
It handles multi-currency payments well for contractors too, which was a big plus for us. No complaints on that front.

S SwatiK 2 weeks ago
Did you get any implementation fee waiver when you started?
3
V VikramG 2 weeks ago
That's good to hear, a lot of our contractors are in different regions.

Following. We're looking at them and a few others like Deel for EOR and contractor stuff. Curious about real-world usage.

Same here. The comparison info online is a bit generic.

Best way to get a discount on Papaya Global annual subscription?

A AnkitG 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Always ask for annual billing. They usually give you a pretty decent cut compared to monthly. That's how we saved a bunch.

S SnehaB 1 week ago
How much was the cut roughly?

D DiyaR 1 week ago
Yeah, I saw that mentioned somewhere too.

Talk to their sales rep. Don't just sign up online. They have more wiggle room for custom quotes and can throw in extra stuff like a free month or something.

Good point, sales usually has the best deals.

We got a referral bonus because a partner agency recommended them. That ended up being a decent credit on our first invoice.

Interesting, I didn't think about a referral.

Thinking of moving our payroll from our current system to Papaya Global. Anyone here using their Global Payroll for a mid-sized team (50-100 employees)? How's the experience been, especially with multi-currency payments?

M MeeraJ 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
We compared them to Deel quite a bit before deciding. Papaya Global felt more robust for larger, complex payrolls, especially with the HRIS integration. The global workforce payments are definitely a strong point. For annual subscriptions, we got a decent discount, so ask about that if you're serious.

Was the annual discount significant?

S SureshN 1 month ago
I heard their startup program discount is also good.

We've been using Papaya Global for about 8 months now, for a team of 70 across 4 countries. The multi-currency payments part is pretty solid, much smoother than our old bank transfers. Implementation took longer than they initially quoted, closer to 6 weeks, but once it was up, it's been mostly fine. Support is responsive, sometimes takes a day or two for complex issues.

6 weeks sounds about right from what I've heard elsewhere.

Did you get an implementation fee waiver or anything?

Honestly, we had a rough start. We're a smaller team, maybe 30 employees, and while the platform itself is powerful, the initial setup felt a bit clunky. Had some issues with country-specific compliance guides not being totally up-to-date for a niche region. They eventually sorted it, but it was a headache for a couple of pay cycles. Still, for global payments, it's better than manual.

Compliance is key for us, good to know.

Is there a Papaya Global free trial or just the demo?

A ArjunL 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Just the free demo in my experience. They walk you through everything.
19
S SanaM 1 week ago
That's what I figured. Bit annoying, wish I could test it.
3
D DivyaR 1 week ago
Yeah, same. No actual trial account you can poke around in yourself.
3
K KiranP 1 week ago
We got a longer trial period than standard after some back and forth, but it wasn't a free self-service thing. More like extended demo access.
5
S SanaM 1 week ago
Interesting. How long did you get?
1
K KiranP 1 week ago
I think it was an extra two weeks on top of the initial walkthrough.
5
R RajeshG 1 week ago
My company got a 'seasonal platform credit' last year around Q4 when we signed up. Not a free trial but a discount on the first few months.
3
S SanaM 1 week ago
Oh, when was that exactly?

Thinking of Papaya Global, what's a good first product to try?

G GlobalGuru 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
Honestly, the Employer of Record (EOR) service is probably their most talked-about thing. If you're going global, it's a no-brainer.

I'd look at Contractor Management if you deal with lots of freelancers across borders. Keeps things tidy.
